1984 in 2006

"There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always — do not forget this, Winston — always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face ...for ever."

-George Orwell In 1984.

"To see what's is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle."
-George Orwell

Arguably life imitates art.. or was it the other way round.. but any ways... Winston Smith did not stand a chance.. neither do many other hapless victims... Winston who.. ?? who victims.. ?? its all down the memory hole already...

  1. I have not read the book 1984, but got to saw the movie. Quite classy the concept covered in that movie. And it is so true not just in political front but also in personal front. We need a constant enemy to keep ourself motivated to do something with our lives. But once you question, why should i be motivated i.e to fight someone, the buck stops and you attain nirvana. If only, we can stop doing what we do and think...

i agree.. after all i think its easier to provoke than to inspire.. inspire to do something correct everyday every time.. i have become tired of expecting that people will do correct things.. things the way i think i would have done... i wrote i think because i 'm also fallible...
